Rhinebeck Writers Retreat

Will is thrilled to be a part of the 2017 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat.  His show with Jeff Talbott, Seven Broken Hearts, will be one of the nine shows developed at the retreat this summer.  Seven Broken Hearts is a little musical about the big things:  learning to love and finding a place in a world that’s working overtime to keep anything from happening.  Samantha (Sam) Walker and Dennis (Denny) Clark are best friends – two kids making their way through the endless boring days of their small-town life in Wyoming.  They’re both seeing guys they aren’t sure about, so they make the leap and leave. As their adventures take them through some hard-won growing-up years, with relationships going down like the Titanic, their friendship hits the iceberg, too.  They eventually land, separately, in New York City, slightly less lost, but also slightly less hopeful.  They’re inching forward, but the question is:  can they really figure any of it out?  Only time will tell.

The Man In The Ceiling

Will will serve as the Music Supervisor and Orchestrator of "The Man In The Ceiling" at Bay Street Theater, which will begin performances at the Sag Harbor, New York venue May 30.  The musical, which features a book by Jules Feiffer and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, will be directed by Jeffrey Seller, producer of Hamilton. Performances will continue through June 25.  Ticket are available at baystreet.org

The Gravedigger's Lullaby

Will is thrilled to provide original music for Jeff Talbott's THE GRAVEDIGGER'S LULLABY playing off-Broadway at The Beckett Theatre.

Here's how the show is billed: Baylen is a gravedigger, a working-class man trying to keep food on the table in a world where other people make the rules.  There’s a baby who can’t sleep at home, and plenty of holes to be dug.  But a chance encounter with a rich young man may bring the hope of a different life.  What will Baylen do?  THE GRAVEDIGGER’S LULLABY is a bold and gripping new contemporary drama about a time that has passed.  And how little things have changed.

Annaleigh Ashford - A New Year

Annaleigh Ashford, most recently seen in the New York City Center concert stagings of Sunday in the Park with George, has recorded a new song by Will Van Dyke and Jeff Talbott entitled “A New Year.”

The song, which celebrates the New Year holiday, will be included in her upcoming concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below on New Year’s Eve, December 31, at 11 PM. The single features Ashford backed by her live band The Whiskey 5, which includes Van Dyke (piano), Alec Berlin (guitar), Steve Gilewski (bass), Mason Ingram (drums), and Allison Seidner (cello). The song was recorded in New York City and was mixed by Grammy winner Derik Lee and Ian Kagey. Oscar Zambrano mastered the recording.
